About

The main aim of the project is to contribute to the reduction of early school leaving, especially amongst young people facing social barriers and disadvantages. We will do this by offering alternative tools - the Forum Theatre methodology and Community Reporter methodology. Both the Forum Theatre and the Community Reporter methods offer an informal learning/teaching context for young people and youth workers. They help promote discovery, understanding and analysis of both personal and social problems, in a collaborative way. They increase young people’s social capital in an all-round way.

In the framework of the project we organise activities as:

- Training for youth workers

- Community media and Theatre workshops for disadvantaged young people

- Community media and Theatre presentations / performances in schools

We will be able to reach those youngsters who study in secondary schools and who are at risk of early school leaving through youth community centres, which are often places frequented by young people facing disadvantages. The outcomes of the project will help to improve the school retention rates for the participants.

How to combine the 2 methods?

In the Youth 4 Youth project we had 2 organisations planned Forum Theatre sessions with elements of Community Reporting method, and 2 other partners were having Community Reporting based workshops completed with theatre practices. In our pilots we tried how the 2 methods can help each other for a deeper understanding of Early School Leaving.
